I, personally, am high on the idea of ATL taking a quarterback and letting him sit for a year or two.

But Sewell is a rare prospect so it’s really a smart pick for them as well

If I had an old QB id wanna know my team was planning ahead. If Lance still sucks after sitting that would be lame but it’s not any different than what you’ll have to do at that point anyways, blow it up and draft a new QB. But there’s also the potential you’ve already solved that problem and don’t have to be desperate when Ryan retires

 

Except without an elite LT to protect him. Build the support system, then draft a rookie QB and try to win. All we'd be doing is burning a year and not having a good system in place.

 

It might just be smoke but I remember hearing a lot of rumblings around Atlanta and Lance awhile ago and that’s probably my guess as to what they’ll do.

 

I’m personally just good with either/or for ATL. Not an Atlanta fan but yeah. Sewell is probably the better choice but this could also be their best chance to draft a decent QB without trading a bunch of picks they could spend on OTHER BPA’s

I was thinking SF was a great fit for Lance, but at the same time I have a hard time convincing myself they will actually pass on Justin Fields.

 

I just know I’d rather burn one first round pick on a QB who has no pressure to cram study everything in one offseason... than have to trade the farm for one who has to start right away. But hey, y’all probably are not gonna have another chance to draft a Sewell either so.

it’s a boring pick, but building a good line for the future is important. A line with Decker/Ragnow/Slater would be a massive improvement over what’s been thrown out there in the past, and give a chance for the run game to finally develop for once since Sanders was around.

 

Boring picks are almost always boring because they’re the right pick.
