    The rivalry is back on

im on team Randall here - I wouldn’t veto these but the team with the higher pick loses on the draft value chart in the Cincinnati trade for sure and idk what you’d value Gilmore at, but I’m assuming the Atlanta trade too. In reality, the team trading up almost always gets taken to the cleaners on that chart

Yeah agreed but this isn't a blood sport. I would've asked for the Pats 2022 1st and 2022 third in addition. It's a mock draft for this year and next years picks aren't hugely important.

  4. i think the move from 8 to 5 would probably include a future 3rd on top of the current 3rd

I trade back with Atlanta, got the guy I was going to pick up at four and got Stephon Gilmore in exchange for dropping 8 spots in the second.

I trade back with SF and got the guy I was going to pick up at 12 and jumped 8 spots in the second and picked up a free third round pick.

    V happy camper.

Eh. Those two trades are at least a wash.

I just don’t like making football decisions based on sunk costs. If Goff really is bad they shouldn’t spend too long waiting on him. I guess it’s too soon to know that. Idk. Not a Goff fan and if my team was tied to that contract I’d at least want to know there’s a backup plan with some potential if he sucks.

  8. If they wanted a rookie QB this year the Panthers deal is way more appealing imo

An investment isn't a sunk cost.

  10. The Arizona Cardinals select Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami

Shit man idk what to do here. By my standards, they need nearly everything because the entire team is like 35. Rousseau has enormous upside and learning from Watt and Jones is pretty much ideal for him. They're poised to win in 2021. They aren't trying to win in 2022 or 2023. They're looking to win now. And shit, idk who does that for them. I think realistically they could take Farley here but injuries scare me.

  11. I'm not a Goff fan either. I'm just stating the obvious intentions behind this move.

my rule is generally that the trade down team should be getting roughly 1.25x the value of the pick in return to be realistic. So that’d be something like 8, 39, and a future 2 or 3

  14. One of the appealing things of the rookie deal is that you have money to spend around him. They can't do that because of Goff for at least 2 years. It would be such an inconvenience.

yeah, this is more like it for a trade from 8 to 5 for a QB

if it was for a non QB / all the top 4 QBs went in the top 4 for some reason, then I could see the trade that actually happened

But Cincinnati *knowing* that Carolina wants the last quality QB prospect remaining before the teams ahead of them, ups the price automatically. And if Carolina doesn’t wanna pay then I hang up the phone to see if Denver, SF, NE etc will beat that price

I’d rather risk losing that extra third round pick by trying to get actual value for pick 5, than accept a third round pick when I could’ve gotten much more

if I got no takers, then that’s on me but not trading down for a third round pick isn’t a giant loss

Bengals knew they were getting one of Smith, Waddle, or Slater at 8.

There was no risk. Take the pick.

Maybe it’s just me but I’m not budging if the offer sucks haha. What I’m saying is I’d risk losing their initial offer in pursuit of a better one.

  19. the same New England that traded above Cincy? The same SF that traded down? The same Denver that isn't in the market for a QB?

  22. Washington Football Team select Mac Jones, QB, Alabama

The Football Team recently signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to a one-year deal to keep them competitive while they figure out their future QB situation. Mac Jones falling to #19 would be a pretty ideal scenario for Washington. A year, if needed, to sit behind Fitzmagic and a team that is very slowly becoming really good across the board. It would be a great landing spot for Jones.
