Oooooh Cowboys select D’Ante Smith, T, ECU

Cowboys are the perfect team to take my sleeper / developmental tackle. Tyron Smith and La’El Collins do not need to be replaced yet by any stretch, but Tyron is getting up there in age and he’s been hurt a lot the last couple years. Having a young swing tackle learning on the bench is perfect for that situation.

D’Ante Smith’s tape is alright, you get a lot more examples of his run blocking than pass blocking so it’s a little unbalanced, and mentally he has some things to learn. But he had a Quinn Meinerz-esque rocket launch of his draft stock at the Senior Bowl.

Of all the highlights available on YouTube, Twitter, and NFL Network.. I literally didn’t see a single rep where Smith got beat against any of the DL there, including a couple who have already been drafted. I would post a few examples but honestly just look him up, footage is everywhere because of how much hype he generated in Mobile. He was straight up embarrassing some of those players.

Dude plays nasty, has that wrestling background (seemingly often produces quality linemen) and superb feet & athleticism. 35+ inch arms. He gets to the second level and guys just get stuck on him. He has everything a coach can’t teach and definitely has the potential to be the future starter at left tackle one day. The Cowboys also have the option of playing him inside at left guard if Connor McGovern doesn’t pan out.

I’ve seen a lot of people complain that the front page wasn’t updated but not actually help by telling you the exact picks and players haha

 

I personally might misremember a college or get a player confused for another, and I also don’t watch almost any college until the NFL season is over so there’s definitely players that I overlook and don’t know about every draft.

So when I do these, I do prefer a format of - what number picks are being traded, what position and school, first and last name. I was very consistent about keeping it updated as long as the picks had that format / structure.

 

Just like the time you forgot to draft Richie Grant.

 

Oh believe me I did NOT forget hahaha I was anxious about missing the pick for all of round 2 lol. Part of me was like “I kinda want Grant MORE than Freiermuth but Freiermuth will go sooner”
