The Buffalo Bills select Quinn Meinerz, IOL, Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Everything about this guy is just "Buffalo Bills/Sean McDermott guy" - wrestling background, nasty streak, good knowledge of scheme/concepts, these are all things that they love. He fits the power/gap scheme they've been running, and they have two large needs on the team right now--getting younger and better on the interior OL and at DE. Mitch Morse and Jon Feliciano's contracts are both escapable after 2021. Meinerz can have time to marinate and be coached up from D-III to NFL level over the course of the season, and be the long term replacement at LG or C for one of these two, beginning next year.

The Bills are firmly in their window right now. They have managed to bring back almost all the starters and key personnel from the 2020 team, and may have possibly upgraded the 1 starting spot that does not have the same player in it, going from John Brown to Emmanuel Sanders. Josh Allen is getting paid soon, and that's when they have to make sure they're plugging holes before they exist, which is why I was willing to pay a hefty price to get up here and get a guy that checks all the boxes, even if it's a little early. I don't like the weaknesses of Humphrey and the other IOL left on the board and how they fit with the Bills scheme and current personnel. Getting an IOL and CB plugged with these two picks is a really good start since I'm not really in love with the DE class.

Washington Football Team selects Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame




WFT double dip with Notre Dame prospects by taking JOK and Eichenberg. It was risky to pass on OL in the first round, but I really liked the fit and talent value with JOK. Now I get lucky that Eichenberg falls a little bit and I pounce on it. Great value here as well.

after problems snapping the ball really hurt them in their playoff loss, the Ravens look to upgrade the interior of their line as well. Ravens C and LG are young but... I literally don’t know who they are lol, not high profile players who got much attention in the draft. I feel like they’re just cheap stopgaps and the team will continue to seek improvements. Humphrey can play guard if they decide their center has potential, this pick basically replaces whoever is worse in camp.

Ravens team building style values the trenches quite a lot, I’ve never known the Ravens to have a subpar offensive line in the 22 years they’ve been a team.

Minshew gets to be a career backup at worst for the best QB in the league and one of the best coaches in the league. Not a bad gig. He should learn a lot there and be the best backup in the league. Maybe take a starting job down the road. And Chiefs have comfort knowing they can be overly cautious with little injuries to their star because they know they have a reliable back up. It’s a win for both sides.

 

Yeah I like the move for KC as well. Mahomes gets even a little banged up? Chiefs are 10-2? Minshew can probably win you a game or two in that offense and keep that playoff momentum going.

Elite QB with an exotic, aggressive skillset? Shitty line? You need a good backup.

 

Reliable backup? I watched What’s his name win them a playoff game.
