  1. Philadelphia Eagles select Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

I really tried to avoid taking a WR here. The Eagles have spent high picks the last two drafts on this position and doing it a third year in a row just seems irresponsible. I think OL is another huge need for them as they seem to be transitioning to Jalen Hurts at QB. However, with Jalen’s ability to buy time with his legs I think I can justify taking a receiver over the best OL on the board. Also, Chase is potentially an elite receiver in the league. I still like Raegor and I could see these two being a phenomenal pairing for the Eagles for many years.

Chase should be WR1 on 30/32 boards.

    The rivalry is back on

The Lions select Justin Fields, QB, Ohio St

Ideally the board wouldn’t fall like this for them, but in an event like this one that Sewell, Smith, and Chase are off the board AND there’s no willing trade partner in the top 15, you gotta go QB and figure the rest out later rather than reach for a player at another need spot like Waddle

    Panthers have traded:

    2021: #8, #40
    2022: first, third
    2023: second

    for Deshaun Watson.

With NYJ out of the running, we needed a big boy deal to beat out Miami and the rest of the interested teams.

I was also offered another quarterback for some picks and a couple pieces... I decided I’d rather take this deal because Watson is still young and it also keeps our young core intact. Getting Watson without having to let go of CMC or DJ Moore would pay huge dividends and give him a chance to compete for the playoffs right away.

It also puts this team in an ascending position while the Saints & Falcons blow it up. It’s too bad Brady is playing until he’s 58, but that is another reason the Panthers can’t dilly dally and settle on a developmental QB who will never beat Brady.

While I could’ve maybe squeaked out a better deal for Watson given the Texans’ lack of leverage, realistically given the value of Stafford and the asking price of Wentz, the Texans probably won’t have to come lower. The market is kinda acting as a buffer between Watson’s real price and the urgent offers they will probably still get. Even if NYJ takes Wilson and MIA doesn’t pull the trigger at 3, well then it’s a free for all for every team that needs a QB that he won’t veto.

The Panthers have the fortunate benefit of already having a mostly built offense for Watson - including a decent line. I think Watson would thrive on a team with a somewhat college minded coach and ridiculous speed on the field with him. Panthers are also somewhat of a Clemson homecoming for him - this move PACKS fans in Bank of America stadium.

I want to see this happen IRL to be honest. An elite QB is easily worth paying this price and hell, Panthers still have a second next year and a first the year after that. I’m sure @Swoos approves.
