Pick 2 - The New York Jets select Zach Wilson, QB, BYU.

There’s a couple enticing choices here. If you believe in Sam Darnold, you can get him help. You could also trade down. If you believe in Justin Fields, he’s here too. There’s also the always enticing DeShaun Watson idea, but Wilson is the pick.

I don’t believe in Darnold, and I don’t believe the Jets have enough capital or resources to pull off a Watson trade AND then building a team around him. So we take the best QB prospect available and we start from scratch.

Indianapolis Colts trade pick 54 and 2022 2nd round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for Sam Darnold.

 

Clears the way for Zach Wilson who is the clear cut future of the franchise. Don’t need a weird QB room melodrama hanging over the team. Plus pick up two picks. Probably pretty close to what he’ll actually go for, I based it off the current Wentz offer.

 

I think Darnold is talented. Colts would be a good situation for him. Good OL and good defense always helps a young QB.

Miami Dolphins select Devonta Smith, WR, Alabama



Trading down is definitely an option but unless it's for another stupid haul, I think the Dolphins need to cash in and build. Devonta Smith would probably not make it passed the Eagles at 6. I think Chase is ultimately better but the edge here goes to Smith given his chemistry with Tua. Tua needs weapons, Tua get weapons.

 

Atlanta Falcons select Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida



Matt Ryan is still pretty good. Cutting or trading him within the next couple years seems very impossible because of the dead money they’d take on. I think Atlanta has suffered from bad injury luck and poor coaching. They still have a lot of talent spread around the roster. I’d like to see them give Matt Ryan more weapons as he enters the final chapters of his career.

Kyle Pitts would quickly turn into Ryan’s favorite target. He is a massive target that also comes with plenty of speed and agility. He can lineup anywhere across any formation. He is a willing and respectable blocker when needed. Big play potential. Just the complete package. I think with Pitts/Julio/Ridley they could potentially create similar mismatches that we see from the Chiefs with Kelce and Hill. Falcons also have Hayden Hurst, so they’d be able to get creative with both TEs out there.

I would normally say never take a TE this early but I think Pitts is a slam dunk game changer.
