would make him the 14th highest paid player in the 22-23 season (he has one year left at 5M which is why I looked at next years salaries. wow. I get some of that is because of playing in Columbus vs a “better” market but holy smokes that’s a lot
That contract might look bad, but he’s 24 and will be just about 31 when that deal ends. They locked him up for his best years, and bought out multiple crucial UFA years. if he signed a 4 year deal taking him right to UFA you’re probably looking more at 7-7.5 I would think.
I personally don’t think it looks bad, I just don’t understand why they would do it if they’re going to stink, he might have to play on worst pairs which will make his stats worse and it makes him way harder to trade
Heinous is perhaps a strong word. I was also under the impression that his analytics went in the toilet last season
eh thats fair, but all the underlying numbers I have seen have shown that Slavin and Pesce were both worse away from Dougie than with Dougie I am not expecting him to come in and play 27 minutes a night in all situations like a Hedman for example...basically if he can continue to play 22 or 23 minutes a night, QB the PP and get 40+ points per year I will be extremely content
I was more so just talking about the money chasing. Dougie is solid, and proper expectation setting will leave you with nothing but satisfied with him. Pair him with a defensive defenseman if you can, but he’ll be good in NJ.
Hamilton had as many power play points last season as all of the devil's dmen combined You can pair him with dead weight and he'll make the devils better.
I love JFresh but there is no chance the Flyers, Rangers, or Kraken are that good as currently constructed
the timing sucks because they finally got him two legitimate wingers (Hall and Smith) for the first time since 2014. Now we're banking on Coyle or Foligno at 2C, which....lol
