Not at all surprised this happened but a little shocked it hadn't happened sooner. The Cup has finally been Florida'd.
I’ve had NHL Network for about a week and it’s probably the “worst” week to have it as it’s the dead zone at the end of the season before anything really happens lmao I’ve enjoyed some of the shows and commentary I’ve watched so far, but one thing I have learned is that if your team wins the Cup, get the network because 90% of what they have on during this time has been games from the Final. Once the season really gets going in a day or two (and especially with the expansion draft) I’ll be very glad to have it, but right now it’s basically just endlessly watching Lightning vs Canadiens lol
Wait, so teams can either protect: 7 forwards, 3 defensemen and a goalie OR 8 skaters and a goalie. In the second scenario you lose TWO spots?? Trying to quickly think who would do that and why, that’s a crazy difference. for some reason I thought the differences were much closer than that.
Teams who want to protect 4 (or more) defenseman will elect for option #2. Toronto's almost certainly going to be one such team so we can keep our top-4 intact + our forwards after Matthews/Mitch/JT/Willy are garbage anyway. Enjoy Alex Kerfoot.
Ok that makes sense. I originally was looking at it as trying to keep more offensive personnel, but that would have to be a situation where you had great top 3 lines and only one or two defensemen you cared about, which would be hard to find as I’m sure most teams want to keep at least their top 3 defensemen
Was just about to post that. Frees up $10M so I guess that means some major contracts are coming soon (or at least one)
Guessing they both refused to waive their NMC, which would force the Wild to protect them from Seattle, thus leading to them having to expose someone like Dumba
Buyouts like these always create an interesting scenario, cause these guys can sign cheap somewhere now and collect two cheques I’d take a flier on either of them
They both made the biggest deal about going home to MIN, can't see them going elsewhere Which means they're both going to NYR
