Trading Ned was bad, but letting Dougie walk and signing Tony D would be an awful way to start the off-season.
Canes saw the Hawks leaping to new heights with their shittiness and didn’t want to feel left out I guess.
But I thought the canes and their fans were fun and woke and blah blah blah. It's almost like no matter what hockey is full of racists, so maybe don't talk shit.
Have not seen one canes fan who supports signing Tony D (in fact I have seen some deliberating whether to even still root for them) I know it clearly doesn't speak for everyone but still
I’m newer to hockey but have always known who Gretzky was and how incredible his records are and never thought we’d see them fall. Ovi still has a long way to go, and who knows where he would be without a lockout season and three shortened seasons! But it made me wonder how other players are on track to what Ovi did. I only looked at Matthews, but I’m sure there are other neat examples but here’s one: First 5 years for Ovi: 396 games played 269 goals scored first 5 years for Matthews: 334 games played 199 goals scored difference of 62 games played and 70 goals. Matthews would be pretty close to Ovi if he didn’t miss those games. Will be interesting to see how he progresses with goals.
So tomorrow is the start FA and the Canes are gonna go into it with zero goalies, haven't reached a deal with their top D, and no sign of keeping either McGinn or Martinook. Hard for me to see this as a team that wants to win now, gonna need to see Waddell work some magic
somehow someway, save Fleury from Chicago/retirement (I know there’s A LOT that makes this seemingly impossible but still)
