good riddance (some team will definitely sign him though) never forget the Rangers organization promoted his podcast early on
Never forget tony DeAngelo is native new jerseyian. All that inbreeding catches up to you after a while.
When I first started getting into hockey a few years ago a major hurdle to get over was understanding the draft. Much like baseball, I didn’t wrap my head around how you would have a draft and then not see most of the players on the team for 2-3 years if not longer. And then a few weeks ago it dawned on me that age wise it’s basically the same as football since you need 3 college seasons before you’re eligible. In a sense, if football did their draft when players were 18-19 and then went to college for 2-3 years it would be the same so it no longer as perplexing to understand the hockey draft as it used to be, I’m just a dumbass.
More NYC-Jersey hatred in this thread please. Anyways, Edzo rips on Dougie during every local broadcast so Hawks will 100% not get him
Going from Ned-Mrazek to Mrazek-Bernier would not be an upgrade at the goalie. There are too many options out there to settle for this.
Bernier isn't bad but I still don't understand the Ned thing 2 years, $3 million AAV is even a fine contract for a backup if you wanted to go that route lol
I could understand if he wanted to be the unquestionable starter and wanted out but how could they get almost nothing for him? Is he not as good as most casual fans think?
From what I’ve read about the situation it seems like Carolina would trust an older goalie than Ned. Regardless of how good an older goalie is vs Ned lol but it reads as “we trust older people better than this young guy”. One of the articles on The Athletic summed it up best: “Carolina was worried about arbitration maybe awarding Ned $5M a year for the same goalie who immediately signed for $3M a year for a much worse team he knows nothing about.” This wasn’t going to arbitration, Carolina just wanted to be super cheap and dislikes that he’s young. It’s so bizarre since they won’t be able to sign almost any goalie to cheaper than what Ned got.
I get that 23 games is a limited amount of time to go off of, so there isn't tons of trust that he will still play at such quality next season. Regardless though Carolina clearly undervalued him and when they couldn't reach a deal, decided it's better to get something than nothing in return. Waddell clearly prefers a veteran at our #1 to make a cup run and I get that, but then let's actually try and get someone who makes our goalie situation an upgrade from last season. Maybe they do end up doing that, but the reports that they are looking to re-sign Mrazek doesn't make much sense to me. We trusted Ned over Mrazek in the playoffs for a reason Would be nice to try and make a trade for someone like Gibson or Kuemper, if Waddell really wanted an upgrade and veteran goalie.
Blackhawks pushing for Seth Jones, Ryan Suter nearing decision A unique, but valuable case could be newly-minted Stanley Cup champion David Savard, because word is he’s more willing than some of his peers to consider Canadian destinations. One GM said Thursday that he’s hearing more and more from players that they prefer not to play in Canada. “It’s a real thing,” he said, mentioning taxes, social media and tighter pandemic restrictions. Dumbfuck NHL players not wanting to play in a country where people actually give a fuck about the pandemic and vaccine is a real shocker
If @MexicanGuitars is complimenting places he hates, you know you’re a piece of shit tho But people can change
My only hockey thoughts for the day are: - Excited for the draft, let’s stock the cupboard - Please stay the fuck away from Tony DeAngelo
