Austin Matthews is the most dynamic “goal scorer” I’ve seen in my life and it’s time for me to finally admit that. Not saying best player, or best goal scorer or anything hyperbolic. He just is incredibly accurate shooter and can score in such a variety of ways….wether is on a drawn up play, tip in or self creating scoring chance. Doesn’t seem to matter.

This is what it’s must have been like to watch Mario at the start of his career.

 

49 goals in 49 games. Give it now.

 

the big club sucks cheeks, but the AHL club is top tier on and off the ice

As much as McDavid and Draisaitl may be the best players in the league right now, Matthews has been the best player in the league this year amongst a lot of best players. His goal contributions is off the chart impressive and he is a two way player and tone setter for the Leaf’s. Very impressive seasons from Maker, Josi, Crosby, Huberdeau, Gaudreau as well (and I could list even more).
