I was hoping for Niedermayer to be the new GM, but he seems like it'll be a good choice. I hope. TB did pretty well with him there to get his ears wet and see how to build a championship level team. Of course, his teams performance in DET wasn't all that great though. But that's been going on far longer than with him briefly there. We'll see...
It's kind of funny because a lot of the best NCAA players end up as AHL tweeners, which is what this tournament.
What does Vancouver get out of trading Garland? He’s young-ish, he puts up good numbers, his (brand new) contract is very reasonable. I thought they fired Benning?
It’s from some random guy on sportsnet lol They will have to make trades though, they have no choice because of past ineptitude.
All the quotes are from jeff marek, a guy on sportsnet Like I said though, it wouldn’t surprise me. It’s probably dumb to let a bad gm ruin your salary cap and make things a thousand times harder before getting fired lol
Garland is a pretty underrated player IMHO. Any team that gets him will be very happy. Dumb for the Coyotes to trade him last year as he was one of only 3 players that could produce.
But what good would Garland have done for the Coyotes this year? They were not going to be relevant this year and the chances of him staying with them were slim given their competitive timeline. Might as well use him to bait the Canucks into taking on that OEL contract.
Who are the bigger names that could potentially move this deadline? I think Canes are pretty well set and probably won't make a move. But I could also see them being opportunistic on a big name if something comes up.
