I imagine Francis and company will have dozens of versions to go through once all the lists are given over tomorrow. I could see a few versions having 1 or 2 big contracts and building the rest out with cheaper, shorter deals so they don’t slam against the cap and get stuck somewhere down the road. One option, if true, would be to take Price as your big expensive asset and the rest are cheap. Another option being Tarasenko, etc. and that’s IF Seattle chooses to keep the player! Imagine Seattle picking Price, retaining, idk, half the salary, and trading him to Boston for a major haul. Lots of things possible, this is very much fun lol
it seems like Price only waived the NMC in order to potentially go to Seattle, so he could invoke it again if SEA was to try and flip him
ohhh great point. in five minutes I have learned Price played juniors in Washington state and that his wife is from Washington state so I’m pretty much fully on board with him being selected. I know he’s older, has five years left and a lot of money but idk I’d be happy with it. Gotta start somewhere.
from Jeremy Rutherford of the Athletic: Armstrong has told Tarasenko’s camp, according to a source, that no teams are interested in the player, who has scored 30-plus goals in five of his nine NHL seasons but has since had three shoulder operations. The source added that Los Angeles, New Jersey, Carolina and Boston, among other teams, have each expressed interest and were willing to take on Tarasenko’s $7.5 million salary-cap hit for the next two seasons, but Armstrong has not found a suitable return. That’s Armstrong’s prerogative, the source said, but the delay is worsening the relationship between the Blues and Tarasenko. And not that there was any recourse, but there is no going back now.
wasn't Bishop out all year last year? it sounds like Seattle is signing Dreidger. I would probably take Kuemper or something and then just roll with those 2 if you don't go the Price route
when healthy Bishop is still very very good, which Price is not. Granted it’s a moot point if they’re going Dreidger
Can you imagine if the kraken picked him, then the habs trade them a first to keep salary and trade him back? Y’all would lose your shit lmao
Yeah, a lot better than people thought. For some reason hockey fans expected these gms would learn since giving vgk a playoff team a few years ago, LOL
