I'm nervous. 12 team playoff and college football as we know it might be fucked. I blame UT and Oklahoma. God damn it

I still think 12 team playoff is dumb, and I also think keeping the big 12 around is dumb. 4 team playoff, for power conferences of 16 teams, and call it a day.

 

If the conferences come together to make a super league and completely alters the system... I consider that fucking up the system (for better or worse, can be argued). Thats completely altering the sport if that happens

 

I for one was excited that the smaller conference teams were finally gonna get a chance only for the power conferences to say.. nahhhh not doing that

12 team playoff is great.

 

The 12 team playoff proposal? It stated the top 6 conference champs would be in, which would include a G5 conference champion (probably AAC most years).

I think it's still likely to go to 12 teams, it's probably just a question of whether it stays at top 6 conference champs or if that gets reduced... or if they put a maximum amount of teams from one conference that can be in it (3? 4?).

It is. The report if the 10 pac and acc coming together is rumored to be due to playoff expansion.

Now every single report so far has no details of what this alliance means, but I'm nervous it entails not doing the 12 team playoff.

Not much to it, but here's the official statement.

 

Not a fan of the scheduling aspect but hopefully they keep it reasonable/regional as possible. And keep the acc/sec in-state rivalries in tact.

On the heels of this, I saw the PAC was going to announce their expansion plans by the end of the week. I wonder if they’ve already shared those with the B1G and ACC as part of their alliance or if they pulled an end-around too? Haven’t read anything past the headline, so more me just spitballing.

 

I'm guessing there's talks going on and this announcement is just a public way to tell the other parties involved to hurry up. I'd be pretty surprised if they expand though.
