I know that Alabama is fantastic defensively but Cincinnati’s offensive gameplan today was about as unimaginative as I’ve ever seen.

Boring, gutless play calling.

 

Cincinnati shouldn’t be in this game. Really wish the playoffs would expand to 8.

 

Despite them not doing well, who else deserves this game over Cincinnati? They beat the team ranked directly below them and every other team had two losses. Georgia shit the bed against Bama too so let’s stop talking like Cinci didn’t deserve this shot. Even if the playoffs expanded I would still seed them in the top 4.

The play calling in this game has been abysmal for Cinci. As someone who has watched more than half of their games this year, this is by far the worst the offense has looked and the most predictable play calling I’ve seen all year by them.

 

Their schedule was very weak. I agree that the won over ND is significant, but I think the Buckeyes deserved the spot and that’s beyond that just being a homer comment as a fan. With a top 8 we would see more excitement I think either way.

And honestly, these games shouldn’t be blow outs. That means it wasn’t the right matchup.

Well Indiana was much shittier than people anticipated which hurt them. Moving to the big 12 will help with that at least.

OSU had their chances. Losing to Oregon at home when Oregon wasn’t at full strength is a bad loss especially with how Oregon tanked badly against Utah at the end of the season. If OSU wins against Michigan they would be in. I can’t really buy an argument towards putting them in the top four when they lost two games and didn’t even play a conference title game.

 

With the realignment that’s coming I don’t think that’s going to be a thing sadly. It sucks because the Sun Belt has become very good and I think would have the best chance of producing a team worthy of that.

 

I don’t think this Cinci team was even the best group of 5 team since the playoffs became a thing which sucks.

in all seriousness, for being the 4 on the losing end of a game against a very good #1 team, I think they were no less adequate than anyone else in that position and I don’t think this is a knock against letting G5 teams in

I do however have a lot of concern about just about every G5 team I’ve seen be consistently nationally competitive besides Boise in the past decade all getting bumped up to P5 with this re-alignment so the gap keeps getting wider and wider between the two levels

 

I think being in a power conference should help recruiting some

oh yeah I think most of these teams are reasonably well positioned to succeed in a harder conference, or at worst, be like Louisville and cash their fancy new TV revenue checks and not be the absolute worst in their conference on a yearly basis.

I meant more that the best of the G5 programs keep getting plucked and added to the P5 conferences so it’s harder and harder to make the argument for adding one of those teams, because their conference schedules are only getting easier and the teams best positioned to succeed in a game like that are gone soon after they build to that level
