Fresno has a receiver that converted to defensive end who just had a strip-sack that he recovered and returned for a touchdown.

    Pretty cool.

Scott Frost should have never gone to Nebraska, which is a shit school and will never be “back” given the changes in the landscape of the sport. It’s where coaches will go to die.

have the forever shifting landscapes now ceased to shift? everyone should quit trying? this landscape feels far from settled.

It can certainly be back. It just takes the right hire.

Look what Matt Campbell has done at Iowa State.

Bringing Iowa State to being a respectable school is a lot different than bringing Nebraska "Back" to being a national powerhouse lol

not saying the landscape is settled or that teams should stop trying. Nebraska just isn’t good, and won’t be good anytime soon other than a potential fluke season.

Scott frost was THE hire a few years ago. He went because of his personal connection. Do you think that top coaching hires will consider Nebraska as a place to take the next step in their career? And even so, as anything more than a stepping stone?

Campbell has had one season where Iowa State is part of the conversation. I think he’s a good coach, but I’m not ready to point to him as an example of sustained flyover state program viability. will he even be at Iowa State if he has another season like last? Who knows?

I really do think that NLI will continue to exacerbate the spread in recruiting. a top player has a lot more opportunity in places other than Lincoln. And simple geographics of talented players preferring to go to certain regions, of which Nebraska is not a part of.

Can Nebraska be a 8-5 or 7-6 team again? Sure, I guess. But that isn’t the bar, historically, that Nebraska has expected to be at or a place where they are going to garner any cred on a national level. It’s just going to be a tough mountain to climb and I can’t imagine it happening anytime soon.

Taking Iowa State to the Fiesta Bowl is a little bit more than "respectable"

True, and they beat up on Oregon there. But still, I don't think Matt Campbell could turn Nebraska back into what they were.

Nebraska was literally the greatest dynasty prior to Alabama, if you're talking about them being "back" to that, that's entirely on you

I’m arguing about them being a team that’s even in the conversation with any consistency. Like I said, I can maybe see 7 or 8 win seasons, but I think that’s the peak for the foreseeable future.

I just find it truly weird that you would destine any school to that sort of prediction. Especially one with NU’s financial background. Bringing in a certain coach could change all the ails of a program quickly.

this was more my line of thinking. the detractors seem to have loftier expectations than the fans at times.
