Well it isn’t the same situation and we also understand it was probably time to go and burn down the house. It’s not hard to understand, I promise.

  2. He shit the bed in the playoffs for years, quit on you, then showed up out of shape and quit on the team to force a trade; I'd be pissed, but you do you.

Cannot imagine being willing to destroy your own reputation so thoroughly just to be able to go from one job paying you $30 mil to different job paying you $30 mil. It's not like the next town is gonna love him after like 30 games of him playing the exact same way.

Zero self reflection going on here

Rivers should have made Ben stay at practice, that would’ve been worse than letting him get the rest of the day (and tomorrow) off lol. That’s behavior I’d pull in middle school to purposefully get out of class and then get sent to detention or whatever and voila! I got my wish. The worst was when the teacher just ignored it and you had to suffer through the rest of the class, come on Doc lol

what realistically is the outcome here? it is very clear that the relationship between he and the team is likely irreparable. if no team is willing to give them what they want for him - does he just, sit at home and get paid? do they work out a buyout negotiation? can they simply cut him?

like, this kind of petulant behavior cannot make him look any more desirable to other teams...

Too bad they can't trade him overseas.

To be fair…. Them throwing him under the bus after the playoffs is what caused most of this probably.

agreed, but all GM’s and coaches have egos that will make them think they can “fix” Ben’s shooting and attitude problems. But if Morey continues to demand the world, I don’t see a GM being THAT egotistical and dumb to make a move.

Which means we either end up with Ben cut or kept home (what did the Eagles give to TO way back in the day when he wanted out? I don’t think it was just a basic suspension - maybe “detrimental to the team” lingo or something) or Embiid tearing him limb from limb

  13. My "Doc's super overrated as a coach" take continues to build sneaky steam.

the problem is he's soft and cares far more about his fame and wealth than being a great player and that's why I don't think he ever will be

It feels like this was kind of inevitable, they refused to trade him before the season because they hoped he would get better and now they’re just kind of stuck

That take is common at this point I’d say. He gets slandered like crazy all the time and rightfully so Cus he does not adjust at fucking all.

Lol if this is what set him off then he's too soft to play in the NBA

Kobe and Shaq were way ruder to each other than anything ever directed at Simmons, just to make one example

I think nearly every player would feel a certain way if they’re being made to be the only reason for the team being eliminated. If he wants out that badly then he probably needs to play in some capacity but the Sixers are definitely at fault a bit here as well.

The Sixers are at fault for catering to him at the expense of Embiid (and Jimmy Butler for that matter), and they're at fault for letting the situation fester to this point. I don't think the quotes after the Hawks series mean anything other than that Simmons is a baby who cannot take criticism at all. I don't blame Embiid and Rivers for being frustrated in the moment

The second round pick has been removed from the offer, it is now Bagley for Simmons straight up

  24. the way doc and the sixers handled the playoff exit was certifiable. that doesn’t get retconned because simmons is still filling his diaper over it
