I really don’t think Morey trades him until we see what happens with Beal or Dame.

If he trades just Simmons now realistically you’re looking at Buddy and Bagley and maybe a future pick.

What I’m saying is, I disagree with the notion you can’t pay him because he’s their only good player. He has star potential. He’s pretty damn close to a star now. If they trade him and then land another great player….then they still only have one stud….

They have the assets to build around/with Shai. They don’t have to move him to get better or acquire another stud.

 

Does Woj still need to contractually use all the adjectives when announcing draft picks? Because those are always my favorite.

I honestly believe the only conceivable deal that someone can offer that they’d agree to is Shai+6 for 1.

A lot of beat writers for Detroit thats super plugged in seem to say that was never formally offered.

Yeah which is totally fair and I see your point! I just think it's smarter to not max contract somebody when you have no idea what the team is going to look like when you can maximize the chance of having a team good at the same time by kicking the can down the road.

If they offered Shai and 6 for 1 is a good trade for them and Detroit! That said I just miss Detroit being good so as long as they end up good I'm happy.
