Always rooting for the Astros when my Reds aren't around in October (and they never are), because I want the Rockets fans in Houston to be happy. Keep it going Stros!! What a crazy deep team.

i mean i don't have a dog in the race either and i usually just root for the underdog then but an astros yankees league championship would be something to see

for sure, it’s not over until whichever team gets that third win, because baseball

Greinke vs Morton will be another good one

I have to say your love for the game of baseball is fascinating. I love the Braves, so naturally I enjoy baseball, but my level of involvement is almost directly correlated with their success. If their season ended on a massive skid and then ended up missing the playoffs like your cubbies, it would be hard for me to care about watching much of the postseason.

Man, if we can win this one (imagine Corbin out of the pen if need be) with Max going tomorrow night.

Baseball has always been the predominant thing in my life since childhood. It's how I spent all of my time: playing in the yard, reading books, watching on tv, asking the adults in my life what they knew/who their favorite players were. Baseball was a proper obsession, my sole identity as a kid. And in so many ways, that hasn't really waned. Of course, my personal identities have become more complex and my interests vary greatly since I was a kid, but I still love baseball and spend an inordinate amount of my time focused on it. Of course, some of that is definitely unhealthy. It's one of the main forms of escapism and avoidant behavior for me.

It's also helps that my fandom has changed a lot over the last four years. I used to live and die with every Cubs game. Winning the World Series in 2016 changed that. I no longer cared if the Cubs won a single game ever again. I got what I wanted most of all, what I had thought might never come and prove elusive for my whole life, as it had been for generations of fans before me. So, in a lot of ways, my fandom has been fulfilled. I no longer fret about the Cubs every day. In fact, I'm at a point where most of my baseball-focused attention is spent on other teams, other narratives.

And that's what makes this postseason particularly fun! I can spend all of my time invested in the Astros vs Rays or Nats vs Dodgers or whatever without having the Cubs in the back of my mind, fretting over how the lineup might be constructed or who is going to fuck up the seventh inning.

still giddy over that Cole outing last night

it'd be cool if somehow the votes split where he and Verlander are Co-Cy Young winners
