Keith Olberman seemed to take issue but I am not necessarily surprised that they were made aware of it from Porter yesterday evening a few hours before the story broke? I don't know why that draws his ire - it makes sense that Porter would tip his employers off that this was going to be a thing, and once the news broke and more information was able to be gathered by the Mets, they did the right thing. If we are talking about him still having his job at 4:30pm today, it would be a far different story.

I see a lot of Mets fans on Twitter angry we didn’t get springer.

Look, I would love to have him too. But people need to stop acting like we have unlimited money lol. Based on the contract he got, we probably wouldn’t be able to extend conforto and Lindor if matched that. So I’ll take Conforto and Lindor as a part of our future over Springer.

 

This is my least favorite stat ever

 

Yeah once they got Lindor (who even with Steve Cohen at the mast I assumed was impossible - so - i'm thrilled still) I considered Springer a looong shot, because it would really tighthen them up. I am bummed they didn't get him, but 6/150 is probably more than I would have been happy about.

My only issue with this is, are we completely sure Conforto is gonna be worth the extension? What kind of extension are we talking about? Like I don't want to give Conforto the money Springer got if that's what Mets fans are trying to say lol

Welp, the Rays are idling this year. Let Toronto and New York duke it out in 2021 and then have a bunch of fresh, talented arms ready for the 2022 season.
