in the past decade the Yanks, Rays, and Sox are 1-2-3 in wins in the AL. i wouldn't write them off.

Both east divisions should be super competitive I think but my most fervent hope for the 2021 season is now two 100 game winners in the NL west and a Padres-Dodgers Game 163

Even as someone whose job is analytics, the way Tampa Bay runs their team pisses me off to no end.

I actually had a bad feeling about this all weekend. There had been too many hints to them moving Blake for it to not happen when his trade stock was so high after his solid postseason performances. I had this terrible suspicion that something would be announced after Christmas that would enrage me.

Don’t know enough about who we got in return, as usual.

The biggest problem is that we had a serious rotation hole to fill already after losing Charlie, though I supposed Wacha is being seen as the direct replacement for him. But we still have McKay and Yonny who are injured. Honeywell was a top pitching prospect but hasn’t pitched a meaningful game in over 2 years, it seems, after all his injuries and recovery time.

So now we have Glasnow as the clear ace, Wacha, Yarbrough, and probably Fleming. I imagine if they like what they see from rookie Shane McClanahan, then he may be a bulk starter in that 5th spot.

I know they will say that they fully intend to compete for the division this year, but this just screams gap year to prepare for a fully loaded 2022 team.

Of course, the positive part of me is thinking that the Rays hardly ever get the bad end of the deal and that this will surely work to our benefit. I’m just failing to see it paying off this coming season.
