TLR should be stuffed with wood chips and in a glass display case at a museum somewhere, that's how relevant he is to baseball in 2020. Dude was always a pain in the ass and he already seemed out of step by the late 2000s/early 2010s, he's practically prehistoric now. And that's even setting aside legitimate concerns about him as a person or his personality.

 

And I say that obviously as someone who derived an extreme amount of happiness as a child and adolescent from TLR's crowning achievements (sorry Oakland).

I think baseball managers are super irrelevant and my only rule is that they're interesting or a former player (which goes with the interesting aspect). Which is why I was into Beltran for the Mets.

La Russa certainly qualifies as interesting.

He’s a good manager that served his suspension. He deserves another chance much like players who use PEDs. I would have no issues with hiring him if he’s the right guy for the job.
