heres the real take: no matter who wins this world series, >50% chance both of these teams are gonna be in a world series again, either facing each other or separately, at some point in the next 5 years. both are too good and with too many young players/key players locked down long-term to not continue to be elite.

rays maybe woulda been here already in the last few yrs if they were in like the al central instead of the al east or something. that team they had last year was fucking good

really don't think this ws title is fake or anything approaching it tho...these two teams would've been in the playoffs if they'd played 162 games, like 99.9% sure of that, and if you throw out the dumb first round they both beat two good-to-great teams to get here

yes the astros had a bad record in the regular season and yes their hitting fell off this year but be honest, rewind to february and you probably had them mentally penciled in the al west still

 

To clarify, I in no way think any of the sports titles during the pandemic are fake. All teams faced the exact same scenario. You play the hand you're dealt, but if some are willing to call it fake, then I'll take that fake title and run with it.
