I worked at publix for 2 years in high school. They had policies that disallowed guys from having facial hair that wasn’t a mustache, hair had to be cut tight (no shaggyness past your ears...if you had long hair it had to be tied up), hair had to be a natural color, you couldn’t wear earrings, and if your pants had belt loops, you needed to be wearing a belt.

I remember thinking back then that it was weird for a company in the 21st century to be holding so tightly to a post-war, 20th century image for its employees.

Also my boss was a sexist piece of shit.
