The broadcast: YES Network: Michael Kay and Ryan Ruocco (play-by-play), Paul O’Neil, David Cone, Ken Singleton and John Flaherty (analysts), Meredith Marakovits (field)

The results: In a survey where you crush it or get crushed, Cone is a home run for the Yankees. He’s a big reason why their analysts have a 4.35 rating. “Dave Cone is a rising star as a color man,” wrote one reader. “I’m a child of the sabermetrics era, and I love how he integrates modern analytics with his own experience as a pitcher.” Kay has his fans and his detractors, but most fans are in agreement that the trio of Kay, Cone and O’Neil makes for a dynamite broadcast. Don’t sleep on Ruocco, who fills in on play-by-play on occasion: “YES is very lucky to have Ruocco in reserve … he boosts the entire broadcast.” Many fans would prefer a more static group of analysts instead of the revolving door from game to game, but generally like what each offers.

I wish theyd stop pretending that ‘second wave concerns’ are really a determining factor here. The FIRST wave isnt over, and anyone can get it at any time. This is purely about greed.

Is it just the pessimist in me that thinks no major US sport will be able to play in 2020 and if they do it will be a cut short due to COVID breakout?

 

I really think the responsible thing to do is cancel all sports in 2020 but they didn't ask me

 

Part of me thinks that they (all major sports) all know they won't be able to play this year, but they still want to have a news cycle so this is how they do it.

 

I think we're gonna get the end of the NBA season and NFL for sure. The NBA seems to know what they wanna do and the players are (apparently) accepting the risk, and the NFL doesn't care.

 

I have been saying this forever but people call me crazy

 

I think I talked myself into baseball for a few weeks but it's clearer by the day it's a bad bad idea

I'm not gonna pretend I won't watch if/when sports happen but they probably shouldn't

Not only this, but i bet they find a way to get fans in stadiums at some point this season too

 

@Jason Tate not sure how much you know of Griffey, he broke his wrist on that 2nd catch. Dude destroyed his body playing all out basically on a concrete field in the Kingdome. Gamer

 

So the kingdome had what the rays field has now? Damn

 

That’s what makes KK’s defense so incredible right now because he’s throwing his body all around on one of the most unforgiving surfaces in all of sports. Also why he’s getting hurt for a month or so every year.

 

I think less forgiving but it's probably not far off. I'd guess they probably have improved things design wise, the Kingdome looked sooo bad to play on
