Also, it's not crazy to think that getting hit in the head in 2003 derailed his career. He averaged a 1.046 OPS from 1998-2002, had a 1.201 OPS through 4/20/03 (sss, i know), gets hit in the head, has an OPS of .868 for the rest of 2003, .849 for 2004, and is all but out of the game after that.

He was 34-35 when this was all happening, so should've been on the backside of the mountain anyway, but getting hit in the head has to be an exacerbating factor

    Here's the HBP

It got him good and helmets back then are not what they are today

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Cause he overcame the huge disadvantage of having a strike zone only half the size of Judge's

This made me sad but also simultaneously happy that his career didn't actually end this way in real life!

Stanton vs Votto was a hard decision and it coming down to one vote makes sense and I'd give it to Stanton for hitting 59 bombs.

Judge vs Altuve doesn't seem hard at all. Judge was such a better hitter, plays great defense, and is a fine enough runner. Altuve hitting .346 is cool but slugging is king

lmao it is almost certainly because Sosa's BA started with a 3 (.308) while McGwire hit .299

I’m confident it’s because the Cubs made the playoffs and Cardinals didn’t

remember those awful days when team performance was damn near the determining factor for awards
