Yeah I bet Kluber still has another 5ish WAR season or two in him whenever baseball is a thing again

It'll be interesting to see how the extended layoff affects pitchers especially. I think the effect will be net positive probably for most guys who aren't like late 30s already, especially if younger guys are able to keep a decent development routine this summer even if the season never happens

 

@Jason Tate Effectively Wild talked with Andy McCullough of The Athletic about his article listing the 30 best baseball songs. It was a really great discussion and I highly recommend it.

 

Neither version of the song made the list but I remember when The Ataris played their cover of "Boys of Summer" at the ASG and however old I was at the time I was super hyped about it

 

At the 2005 All-Star game I got to see Alter Bridge play. Mike Piazza and Johnny Damon joined them onstage lol

This game was from 2003. Started by Bartolo lol

 

Furcal was awesome and jumps into my mind for some reason. Although he played into the early 2010s and got a ring with the Cards in 2011, I remember him well from his Braves years in the 2000s

 

This was awesome even though it happened vs. the Cardinals haha

Is there something I'm missing about Bo Jackson? Admittedly, I was a literal infant when his playing career ended, so I never watched him play, but his stat lines aren't particularly impressive. Two good hitting years (one great) but the defensive numbers don't love him (who knows how trustworthy since those days are in the prehistory of defensive stat keeping).

I can understand that he was extremely athletic, maybe even the most athletic person in the game, but his abilities as they are shown in statistical output don't wow me.

Is Bo Jackson overrated?

 

I'm going to watch the 30 for 30 episode You Don't Know Bo and learn something

 

Bo's always been more famous for his football career where he was more obviously impactful. The fact that he could be elite-level in one sport and even "pretty good" in another was amazing, and yeah I don't know what the defensive numbers said about him but like many fast, athletic outfielders he had some highlights out there.
