Two Martes are better than one

 

I grew up an O's fan and watching them actually play baseball makes me want to die. It's pretty simple.

 

I feel like the Pirates lineup this year is going to be Josh Bell and a bunch of first or second year players. Going to be another looong year.

 

I think the Pirates will probably have the worst record in the majors this year

And I wouldn't be surprised if Bell got traded at the deadline if his first half of 2020 is as good as his first half of 2019 was, and they can get a meaty return. He's a prime DH candidate for teams that already have 1B sowed up too.

 

Yeah that definitely all makes sense. I just hope they get good returns in this deal and any other upcoming deals. But given their track records on deals in recent years, I’m not holding my breath.

 

Oh good, as long as the Mets didn’t get him I’m happy

 

If Bell slugs like he did first half of last year, the return for a player like that in their arb years is gonna be pretty good, especially if it's a "destination" landing spot team that thinks they could sign him long-term.

Pirates have a new GM now right? Future deals can't be worse than past deals so theres that at least haha

 

Oh yeah I already forgot about the new GM. I’m so bad at remember off-season happenings. When the regular season starts up I’ll probably go, “Wait, Marte’s not on the team anymore?” Haha.

 

Ben Cherington, was Red Sox GM between Epstein and Dombrowski I believe. Has to be an upgrade on Huntington given how the last few years have gone.

 

I was very 50/50 on him/the mets getting him, what about it werent you into?

 

also this is something to consider as their payroll plummets

 

I just don’t think we need another outfielder and I didn’t want us to take on a contract of his size for a player that only makes us slightly better (or not better at all depending on who we would have traded)

 

The thing I hate most about no DH is when a game goes into like the 12th inning and you get stuck with pitchers batting in big moments. No way to decide baseball games

 

Why not? They should have to strategize. Don’t use too much of your bench early on or it may bite you later.

 

Using too much of your bench is pretty unavoidable when so many starters have trouble sniffing the fifth inning (due to the probably too strict 100 pitch limit) and so many teams carry like eight relievers

Should've started the DH the next day, go out on the absolute peak of pitchers hitting lol

 

I think fans overestimate how much strategy there is with the double switches. Having a DH in the NL really isn’t going to eliminate much on that front. Getting rid of sacrifice bunts won’t be the end of the world either.
