Red Sox seem awfully confident that MLB won’t find anything with the cheating scandal and the team won’t be penalized. Hope it’s true or they will all look like bigger fools.

 

I mean they were already caught using Apple Watches; not sure how they could feel confident haha

 

Sure they weren't as bad as the Astros but it seems they def did something, 2nd punishment for this won't be good. Sure they're looking at losing draft picks too, makes it more likely they move Mookie. Their farm is pretty thin right?

 

Because maybe they didn't do anything this time and the report was incorrect? Or they could just be saying stupid things that will come back to bite them in the ass (wouldn't be the first or last time a pro athlete does that) when the MLB ruling comes down.

 

Moving Mookie is independent of what happens with this ruling, luxury tax or thin farm system. The Sox have already offered him the 2nd biggest contract in baseball and he turned it down, he's made it clear he wants to test free agency and if he leaves the Sox for another team due to the luxury tax penalties the Sox would only receive a 4th round pick for him. Mookie's trade value right now is higher then it ever will be once the season starts so if a team is willing to give you an offer the FO thinks is good and reasonable they might have to consider it.

Yeah the farm system is in the bottom tier of MLB teams, most of their top prospects are young/lower levels right now.

 

It's almost irresponsible these days to not flip someone when you know you aren't going to re-sign them, unless you have a really good shot at a championship. Not like they're a bad team obviously but kinda surprised they haven't moved anybody yet

 

Yeah I'm a little surprised they haven't made any trades yet either, especially since they want to get under the luxury cap this year and I believe right now they're projected to be a little over.

As it stands right now with the team they have, assuming everyone comes back at full health (big if with every team and every year), they're definitely one of the better teams in the AL and would probably be a favorite to make one of the two WC spots as I do think the Yankees are probably, on paper, the best team in the AL and probably MLB. Having a healthy rotation of Sale, Price and Rodriguez is a pretty good top 3 and the offense should be good again.

 

And you'd think they're not gonna start this year with the rotation being as bad as they were last April lol

 

I had a dream that Tyler Glasnow threw out his back on the first pitch of the regular season and I never want to be that scared again.

 

Yeah the pitchers were still in spring training mode. Were a good 2 weeks behind schedule.
