Saying he heard that the Astros used buzzers or whatever.

He's a GM. I'm sure he visited those places throughout an 81 game home schedule fairly often. And if you're the GM, how do you not question a weird banging sound going on during a game of yours? I just can't buy into anyone's proclaimed ignorance on this. Frankly, I don't see how anyone can.

Just popping in here because it should always be said that the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, which is the "federal crime" that Correa committed, is an absolute fucking travesty.

It's not claiming ignorance to his benefit. He was a part of the investigation and probably knew he'd be punished for it regardless. I'm just saying if the league went through 68 employees and 75,000 emails and the best case they could make in their report was "there is conflicting testimonial evidence with respect to what he knew" (paraphrasing) then he was either the smartest criminal in the world or he wasn't involved in minutia like that.

Thinking Jeff Luhnow had to have been involved in the sign stealing would be like demanding Elon Musk to be able to put your Tesla back together. When you manage thousands of people, there are a lot of layers between you and the people on the ground and things can happen without your knowledge.

Do I think he knew? Yea probably. But I also read the 10 page report and found very little evidence against him.

All of this makes beating them so much sweeter. Love that story even more of how the Nats came up with a system and switched up signals throughout games.

Said it yesterday and I'll say it again today, cheating or not, it's sad when two highly respected minority managers are out of jobs.

That's exactly my point. People posting random garbage on twitter as proof of anything one way or another. The stats and third hand stories people throw around as "proof" of anything aren't worth much of anything.

The league never was going to do shit until it got picked up heavily by media. Now they have their scapegoats and everyone else who does it will get away with it and they’ll stop for a few years. It’s a stain on the league if it comes out that many teams do stuff like this just like the steroid stuff.

I think it's going to turn into a witch hunt much like the PED stuff was. You bring up a great point that the MLB wasn't going to do a thing until something became public. At this point they should pretty much investigate and interview every single team, which they won't but might as well.

I'm an Astros fan, so seeing people use it as "evidence" in the 2017 post season just makes me angry. So I decided to pull the stats from the Yankees side just to present the pseudo evidence. I assume they cheated in the 2017 post season because that's what the report says.

However, I'm sick of these boogieman type claims like Altuve was wearing a wire for that Chapman slider. It was a hanging slider, middle up. The league monitored the replay room in 2019 and the league also reported the cheating stopped in 2018 because it was no longer effective. So people need to either believe or not believe the entirety of the report. You can't pick and choose and say "we believe that they cheated in 2017 because the report" and also say "we don't believe they stopped cheating".

i understand the frustration over ignorant and/or untruthful takes, but i don't subscribe to the idea that you have to take something at face value or not at all.

They should have done this to begin with. Grant immunity to the players and managers for league wide understanding and cooperation and then devise a system to combat it going forward. I'd be fine if they did it as a part of the Astros investigation to determine the severity of the punishment. If it's 20 clubs you go light in punishment. If it's 2 clubs, drop the hammer.
