Players wouldn't ever talk then if there's a chance they get suspended for that long. That's why/how MLB got so much dirt on Houston because they gave the players a free pass as long as they told the truth.

Yeah that's true. Well I don't see how Beltran keeps his job. 3 managers and a GM going down and likely being blackballed if not officially banned would hopefully be a significant deterrent.

disgusting. Gooden is a piece of shit and the organization will never not have some sort of celebration for him annually.

If you start suspending players (at minimum) 81 games + fining them a % of their salary, hopefully there won't be anything to talk about anymore.

There's no incentive for players to stop trying to cheat if they ultimately aren't being the ones punished.

It would be such a Met thing that Beltran gets fired a month before the season before he even manages a game.

I don't think any team will touch the Astros GM, I just think he has way too much baggage between this, the way he treats his staff and how poorly that Astro front office is viewed because of all the BS that went on there under his watch.

I think Hinch will get another job, even as early as 2021 when he's reinstated as his only crime seems to be he didn't speak up/speak out about the cheating.

Cora will be interesting, I think he's a very good manager but as apparently the "mastermind" behind the whole operation not sure a team would want to deal with the baggage/distractions his hiring would lead too. Maybe in a few years but not right away. I bet he manages Puerto Rico in the WBC and joins up with ESPN/MLB Network for a few years and then maybe? It really is a shame about Cora as he was one of the few minority managers out there who is seen as a really good person and baseball mind.

You would think that but every year guys still get suspended for PEDs and popped for DV.

I agree though that players should start getting suspended for it.

Can never say never for sure.

I wonder how many suspicions the Yankees had when Boone, Cora and Beltran were available. I know they put Beltran in the front office but that's totally different than manager. They chose right I guess.

whichever route they go, the Mets absolutely need to make a statement today. The silence is going to look worse than anything.

I know he was a player so nothing will happen but imagine the noise with the media. It will not go well.

I doubt any team but Houston truly knew the extent of what was going on and/or who was really behind it.

I forget who tweeted it out, maybe Heyman, but it seems like the Mets are waiting to see what the Red Sox punishment will be before making a decision. Which really doesn't make any sense to me.

Yeah it makes no sense cause it won't apply to Beltran. But wouldn't be the first time Mets made no sense

If you think beltran is the guy and they make a statement soo . I see no reason to fire the guy.

I don't have a way to link a Twitter post but Lou Merloni (former MLB player and current Boston radio host) retweeted an interview Alex Cora gave after the Sox/Yankees London series where Cora says (paraphrasing here) the Yankees hiring Carlos Beltran was their biggest offseason move in 2019 and that the Sox have to pay more attention to details while the Yankees do a better job at it. Merloni interprets that Cora is saying the Yankees are signing the Sox signs and the Sox need to be better at hiding them.

I think this "signing stealing" stuff isn't even close to being over with.

I always took that as him saying in his smug way that the Yankees got somebody who is wise to him. Like a cocky inside joke with himself like when Bregman and Correa laughed their asses off when Bregman said he was looking for a pitch.

I guarantee the Yankees were a big focus of the investigation that just happened.

According to Tom Verducci Astro personnel told MLB about 8 other teams that used technology to steal signs in 2017 and 2018 and one was the Red Sox. So still waiting on the 7 other teams.

I don’t remember seeing this. Apparently Utley is really good at picking up pitch tipping too

Remember when Trevor Bauer essentially proved Astros pitchers were getting added spin on their pitches from pine tar lol

I wish the penalty had been 50x harsher

  24. Still think lol at manfried calling it a player driven initiative and then not suspending any players what a trash commissioner
