Like I said earlier, what’s the precedent then if you’re gonna give a team who straight cheated with a system and went on to win a title a pretty light punishment by comparison? Who cares how good they were otherwise or whether it truly helped them or not, it’s still a pretty reprehensible thing they did and frankly, they don’t deserve to keep those rewards because of that imo. Like people have been banned from baseball for less and the best MLB can do is to take some draft picks, fine an owner like $5, and suspend two people for ONE year? That is an undeniably weak punishment to give out and I’m truly disappointed in the brass for doing so.

 

At this point, I hope there’s a players strike that grinds things to a halt because the current state of MLB fucking sucks and things need to change.

 

Oh there’s a player’s strike coming but bot because of this (because the owners have stopped paying the players). The players are the ones benefiting from the sign stealing and every team is doing it one way or the orher, probably not as extreme as Houston did but it’s definitely going on.

To me this is just the 2020 version of PEDs in the MLB, it needs to be cleaned up.

other teams looking at the cost-benefit of this are going to be deterred. this is a steep penalty for something that you don't know the true benefit from. there are people from fangraphs and fivethirtyeight that couldn't discern any impact; at the very least nothing you can point to with certainty. it just doesn't seem worth the gamble, imo.

 

The report says there's 8 other teams they believe to have done similar things. One being the Red Sox. Manfred NEEDS to release the other 7 organizations.

 

the review booth is RIGHT behind the dugout. i'd bet every team has guys that sneak back there and take a look.

 

Yankees are another team that have been accused of doing it. Logan Morrison pointed out the Dodgers and Yankees yesterday.

It's weird to me that the Braves GM was banned for just messing around with international prospect money while this directly affected games and only resulted in one year suspensions (pending Cora's punishment)
