I don't think cheating is the only reason the Astros won the World Series in 2017, but it is a contributing factor no matter how large or slight. Baseball is such a game of inches, millimeters even, especially in the postseason, that we'll never know how much it helped them. What if Bregman knew what Jansen was going to throw in the bottom of the 10th in Game 5, when he hit the walk-off? Maybe he still hits it if he didn't but we'll never know and obviously something like that is unbelievably high-leverage.

It just sucks a lot. 2017 was the most entertained I've been by a non-Cardinals World Series in at least a decade and it will never not seem tainted to me. I'm still not sure they should have stripped the title, but the punishment today falls way short in my book and it sucks.

I think itll finally hit me tomorrow what happened today, phew

 

it does suck. and i am really pleased with MLB's ruling. they cheated and should be punished. i believe it has a good impact on a pitch by pitch level and messes with the integrity of the game. but its impossible to tell by how much it benefited them. so, i'm not jumping on the "this is why they won. vacate the win." train.
