Don't know who the Braves' out-of-house counsel is, but I'm sure attorneys' fees alone to prepare for and conduct the arbitration should hit six figures, so we're talking about a $1.7 billion corporation squabbling over a couple hundred thousand dollars.

You know what, I’m ready to do battle for batting average. It matters. There I said it.

 

Sure you can say it "matters," even if it was a totally useless stat it matters because enough people who matter think it matters. But while it's not totally useless there are a lot of much better ways of determining how good of a hitter someone is

 

I mean Sanchez has already outhomered Lo Duca's career by 25. And Lo Duca juiced lol

Im not sayings its the most important stat, but i definitely think its worth paying attention to. The first stats i tend to look at are OBP and WAR. But to completely disregard a batting average is silly. Thats all I mean.

 

Also even if walks are super valuable, hits are way more fun to watch. We can all agree on that yes?

 

God knows the last time Lo Duca came up before today, of course I put on SNY and there he is in a Mets classic from '06 lol

 

I dunno I love watching a guy grind out a 12 pitch walk, much more fun than a boring bloop single in my book

 

I like OPS+ a lot. Simple to understand, simple to compare to other players with the baseline being 100

 

That's a fair point, because I do enjoy a long at bat.

And yeah, I also like all the + stats.
