He could end up being a good piece for the Brewers, can play 3b, ss, 2b and 1b. There was a stretch of early 2018 when the Cards' offense was extra abysmal and Gyorko/Pham were the only dudes showing any kind of pop. I'm afraid it's more likely than not that his future looks more like his injury-riddled 2019 than 2016-18 though

I didn't think much of the signing but Counsell LOVES utility players more than anything (probably because he was one himself). They don't really have a third baseman right now so I could see him starting if they don't make a trade. I don't trust Sogard to play everyday even if he's coming off a good season.

 

Yeah I was kind of thinking the same thing. Yall like to play a bit of the same positionless game the Dodgers do so Gyorko could be a good fit if he bounces back. Healthy Gyorko is an upgrade on Sogard for sure, but you've had Sogard before and seen Gyorko in the division so you probably know that

Yeah, on a much smaller scale since we don't have anyone as good as Taylor or Hernandez. Travis Shaw's complete free fall last year really screwed them because he was their everyday 3B. They kept Hernan Perez around forever because guys like Saladino, Miller & others didn't pan out. I'm interested to see how the infield looks this year since there's so many new players and I think they've seen enough of Arcia.
