Those are the parts I don't get. Everyone says he is a "lame duck" and not the right fit, but no one states why. There's so much evidence for the contrary and none to back up the claim. I can agree that past success doesn't necessarily equate to future success, but that's just a vague statement being used with nothing to back it up. Unfortunately, I don't think we will ever know the reasoning.

They claim he can't build a farm, but how many great players came to Detroit via a trade? That can't really happen with an inadequate farm system, imo. And he just signed Xander Bogaerts to a steal, so he should have no problems in that department either.

I just don't really get it, I suppose. Professional sports management turnover baffles me.
