Market is a great guard but he was not nearly as good at center, I think meinerz could be just as consistent at both. The stamina he has for being otis dozovic is wild.
The Patriots select Hunter Long, TE, Boston College. a local kid gets added to a tight end room that was less than useless last year. I still think Asisi and Keene can work out, but there’s no reason to be CONFIDENT.
The cleveland browns select pete werner, lb, osu The browns have almost nothing at linebacker outside of Mack, I think werner could start and have a very solid career for them.
The Saints select Shaun Wade, CB, Ohio State. Wade got very little opportunity to show he could play on the outside - Jeffrey Okudah and Damon Arnette had the outside roles the previous season. This year in limited time the results were hit or miss. However as a nickel corner he was a top / ascending prospect, and he certainly has the length and the raw speed to carry boundary receivers downfield. In a lot of ways he reminds me of Bradley Roby with his raw attributes. Especially the way he pins his ears back and flies like a hyena into the backfield on CB blitzes. He has also shown he can be opportunistic and make plays on the ball. the Saints already have CB1 taken care of with Marcus Lattimore - if I’m picking 5 young players that stay no matter what, he’s one of them. Wade won’t have that pressure. In fact, Wade doesn’t even have to start outside at CB2 his first year - Janoris Jenkins is under contract one more year, and provides ideal veteran leadership. However, the Saints roster / salary cap is just bleeding defensive backs the next two years. Saints already have Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to step up at safety, so getting the last CB who has high “potential” was paramount. At worst Wade is a great nickel corner and the Saints still look for a CB2 next year. At best he can spend a year learning from Jenkins, and form a fierce ex-Buckeye duo with Lattimore.
@Swoos Compensatory pick for the Dallas Blowboys HEY btw... New Orleans’ straight-up trade for this pick is still available.
Dallas Cowboys select Talanoa Hufanga, S, USC Hufanga is a modern day LB/S hybrid playmaker. I think playing next to two really good LBs (LVE and Smith) will be advantageous for him. He is a day one starter for that defense.
Tennessee Titans select Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Memphis The Titans offense needs some more firepower to lessen the load on Henry. Last round the Titans took Sage Surratt but Gainwell gives them a player they haven’t been able to pair with Henry so far. Gainwell is a great complement to Henry and would create mismatches when motioning out or lining up from the slot.
I say the Bills need an IOL and y'all gave me a project OT instead and left this monster on the board who is...exactly what the Bills like in an OL (position versatility, mauler, etc.) pfffffft thanks for the help lol @Swoos (since I think you wrote the Bills pick post) and @CarpetElf is Dayo Odeyingbo still on the board? If he is can we make that the Bills pick instead? Hudson is not a fit at all to be honest. That's my bad, I was on kid duty last night and couldn't find anyone
Appreciate it. He seems like a decent fit, he's raw but should be able to be a rotational piece at first, would essentially be taking Trent Murphy's place on the roster. With no salary cap related moved, the Bills would have Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, AJ Epenesa, Odeyingbo and Darryl Johnson all to rotate at DE. With his size, Odeyingbo might be able to occupy the Quinton Jefferson role for a bit, where he takes DE and DT snaps depending on package and down/distance, and is a nice developmental piece for a position that is EXTREMELY old right now.
Los Angeles Rams select Drake Jackson, C, Kentucky Very impressed with him. I think he might go higher in the actual draft. Zero sacks or hits allowed this year and the highest amount of mistake free games. Austin Blythe is a free agent and it's customary for the Rams to prioritize their money in their defense so I can't imagine he'll be back.
Also, I’m low key proud of my Shaun Wade pick. He definitely fell off from where he was hyped before the season, cause his first experience playing outside corner was spotty and inconsistent. But I think we’ve come full circle and now he’s really being underrated, and most analysts are acting like they don’t wanna touch him with a 10 foot pole. People aren’t considering, that maybe only getting to start outside for like 4 games, is a lot of pressure to learn quickly while every mistake you make is under a microscope. He still has all the same potential he had when he was playing slot. Is he one of the top corners in the draft class? No. But late third round feels like a steal, for an Ohio State corner with great size and speed, who at the very least is a known talent at slot corner. I think being stuck behind two very good juniors last year, and then the pandemic disrupting his development as an outside corner in 2020, are special circumstances. And that with steady tutelage he still could become a good CB2.
