The Saints have traded Terron Armstead to the Cincinnati Bengals for picks #69 (nice) and #133.

Armstead is very good and this is painful... but this move clears $9.5M in dead cap.... which is something the Saints have to do the equivalent of 10 times to get under the cap lol. This is me understanding the Saints can only afford to extend one of their tackles - and it’s gonna be the younger, even better Ramczyk.

He only had next year left on his contract anyway, so this is getting value for him ahead of time knowing we can’t afford to extend. Bengals got Christiansen and Armstead to protect Burrow now while the Saints have so far prepared to lose Drew Brees, Sheldon Rankins, Terron Armstead, Janoris Jenkins, and Jared Cook, and a couple linebackers at the very least.

getting younger at left tackle. Trevor Lawrence’s blind side blocker might lack the footwork for a zone scheme but he’s a great fit for what New Orleans does. He shows exceptional size and nastiness in the running game.

worst comes to worst we’ll kick him inside to guard but he is a big guy that has shown he can keep up with a fast paced passing offense.
