I like Swoos draft. But for me if the draft fell like this: 1) Simmons, OLB/occasional S 1) Kinlaw, DT (likely 3 tech, but versatile) 2) Delpit, FS 3) Dantzler, CB 3) move back up for Weaver, DE Jags defense is already WELL on its way to being rebuilt after that. That’s 5 prospects I’m fond of at bargain value. All those picks would be an easy A+ tbh That’s my favorite draft scenario I’ve seen for Jax yet. I’m actually good with running our offense back the same way in year two, if it means we can get a head start on defense with 5 draft picks that all look like future starting lineup players.
If Minshew is the real deal he can manage at least slight improvement from last year with what we got. Our line is, decent to good. Our weapons are maybe slightly below average but Chark + Westbrook + Cole in the slot isn’t TRASH. Fournette is a very good runningback, wouldn’t say one of the best in the league but very good. Our offense isn’t fully set up for the future yet, but we cant do it all in one draft. Just love how the defensive value fell this time around.
Alright, 2 picks coming up for the Pats. Let's make some headway here @Randall Mentzos. I'll live with Love, but do me proud now.
Browns select Lynn Bowden Jr, WR, Penn State. Idk who the fuck the Browns slot receivers are but with OBJ and Landry already underperforming they need to inject some talent into this room. Perfect team to take a slot specific WR since they do already have strong talent on the outside. This should help give Baker Mayfield an easy option when he’s under pressure. He's phenomenal at yards-after-catch, can threaten vertically, he's a bonus on screen / WR running plays, can even throw the ball if you wanna get goofy (OBJ and Landry both have this skill lol.) I really see Bowden as a Brown actually. He can also take over returning kicks now that Damarious Randall and Jabrill Peppers are gone.
Patriots select Leki Fotu, NT, Utah. Fotu has no competition as by far the best scheme versatile nose tackle in the mid rounds. The Patriots got stampeded by Derrick Henry last year and now they make a move to shore up their run defense. Danny Shelton is gone and he wasn’t that good anyway, Fotu might even be an upgrade early into his career. This is a DIRE need for a team that wants to switch freely between 4-3 and 3-4 looks, their best guy inside right now is Lawrence Guy and he is not the guy you want handling that much run defense responsibility. Not a sexy pick, but a vital chess piece.
