Atlanta selects Cameron Dantzler, CB, Miss St The Falcons’ pass D was atrocious last year. We address this in the first round with the pass rush, but also need to fix the newly gutted CB corps. I have to think they’re going to reach into the free agency market to grab someone besides Isaiah Oliver to be CB1, but if they don’t, Dantzler is a good fit for a zone heavy scheme like Atlanta’s to hopefully develop into that guy.
I know it's approximately 7 hours earlier than he normally does business but WHEELIN DEALIN BRANDON BEANE has arrived folks...check those inboxes
The New York Jets select: Marlon Davidson - EDGE - Auburn Whether Gregg Williams shifts to a four man front as his base defense or stays in the 3-4, Davidson fills as massive need as an edge setting powerhouse. Davidson popped out to me when I was watching Andrew Thomas against Auburn. Davidson got the best of him several times and made a few splash plays. To me, he's the next Melvin Ingram type of edge presence in the NFL. He is ridiculously powerful off the edge and uses several different pass rush moves to get into the backfield.
I have been trying to trade into this round with the Panthers to get Marlon. And he was going to be my Dallas pick if that happened before I could get a panthers trade lol
We have a trade. I'm just wrapping some work stuff up sorry to delay things I'll be back on around 5 to post the trade and pick
Trade: PIT gets: 54, 86, 167 & 207 BUF gets: 49, 102 & 135 The Bills select Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin. Okay so I wanted to do something different in v3. Brandon Beane is not afraid to move all over the board especially when he sees guys he has as a glaring BPA, which I think might fit the bill with Taylor here. IMO, Taylor and Devin Singletary would be an absolutely devastating 1-2 punch and complement each other pretty well. Both guys had a ton of touches in college so splitting the load could lengthen their careers. Taylor has the breakaway speed Singletary doesn't. Singletary has a knack for fighting through piles and getting positive carries in close quarters where Taylor doesn't. Taylor thrives on more touches and Singletary's smaller build doesn't lend itself to being an NFL bellcow so he will always need a guy to share.
Does anyone want #50 from the Bears? If not I will have to circle back after I get my kids fed to make the pick I'm sorry to hold this up guys
Bears select Matt Hennessy, IOL, Temple. @Swoos Cowboys Bears OL is bad everywhere. This fills the need made from. Kyle Long retiring
Dallas Cowboys select Julian Okwara, EDGE, Notre Dame I really wanted to get Dallas a weapon with this pick but I think Okwara is too good of a value here. The Cowboys DL needed some work this offseason and so far they've added Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy. Both guys were pretty bad in Carolina but maybe it'll work out better in Dallas. The potential for a solid-enough interior d-line is there. And they of course have a great pass rusher in Demarcus Lawrence. However, they need someone to replace Robert Quinn. Enter Julian Okwara. A super athletic edge rusher with surprising strength for someone his size. He's fairly versatile as well. Notre Dame dropped him in coverage at times and he held his ground. I think he could go to any scheme and make an impact. But he will be most effective on pass rushing downs.
LA Rams select, Isaiah Wilson, OT, Georgia. @socklord I think Eagles are up @JRShoenberger Steelers are after
