Imagine if you took Andrew Thomas at 9 and a *certain* WR at 26 instead haha. That would’ve been dope...
Jacksonville Jaguars select Ross Blacklock, DT, TCU Jaguars have their cake and eat it too. Blacklock is ferocious and every bit of the athlete you'd want from this position. He has the potential to be another cornerstone piece of this DL alongside Josh Allen and AJ Epenesa. Very high upside with a high floor to boot. If he never ascends to match his through-the-roof athletic pedigree, the Jags still land a solid DT capable of defending the run and effectively rushing the QB.
I'm not doing the Seahawks. I barely have time for three times. I was cool with the Niners because of how few picks they have.
Seattle Seahawks select Cesar Ruiz, IOL, Michigan Look, this shit isnt changing any more than Pete Carroll. I'm protecting Wilson. He could give a shit. Ruiz fills in anywhere in the interior and instantly becomes, at absolute worst, their second best OL. For the love of god: PROTECT. WILSON.
Baltimore selects Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma. Really need someone to solidify the middle and was nervous Queen or Murray wouldn't fall. MLB is our biggest hole. In keeping Judon, pass rush isn't quite as much a need. Would rather have Queen, but no complaints because Kenny out here looking like a snack. @EntryLevelDave Titties are up
Andrew Thomas, Jefferson, and Blacklock would've been nice but when you're picking you dont know who falls. Jeudy was the better pick than Thomas at 9 and I fucking love Thomas.
I was just telling Matt I don’t agree with this haha Jags don’t think they need a tackle but really that’s just Caldwell being dumb. Cam Robinson’s footwork is clunky and awkward, he does not show enough agility to handle speed rushers on the perimeter. This is year 4 for him and he’s already missed a year to an ACL tear too. Now is the time to replace him cause I don’t think he’s worth LT money. We have plenty of chances to draft a sick WR this draft but a good T is gonna have to come in round 1. I think bookending Minshew’s line with Andrew Thomas / Jawaan Taylor, and having them all grow together, is the best possible way to help his development, especially since I still LOVE a lot of WR options in rounds 2-3. Thomas / Taylor are both amazing T prospects that should develop into very good pros. Any rebuilding team with a young QB should salivate over that possibility.
As much of a boon any of the top three WRs would be for Minshew and the Jags offense, I gotta agree. With the depth at WR in the draft, an additional first round pick, and a high second round pick, I think the Jags grabbing a top OT and taking a WR a little later is the way to go.
Really though Marrone thinks he’s an OL whisperer so if we took one it’d probably be Becton / Wirfs, he’s likely to go with athletic traits over technique cause he believes he can teach technique
Tbh I think Thomas’ athleticism is very underrated though. His feet are so quick. Dude is agile as SHIT for a 320 pound man. I feel like when you got edge rushers running 4.4-4.5, that should be the number one skill for a T to display. It all starts with the feet - if your feet aren’t right then you lose the leverage battle and it doesn’t matter how strong you are or how good your hand technique is. You can’t cleanly block someone without squaring up with them / mirroring their movements, and Thomas is ELITE at that.
Pick 29 - Titans select Austin Jackson OT, USC With the exit of Conklin, the Tennessee Titans are left with a huge hole at right tackle. Austin Jackson could fill that hole right away. After re-signing Ryan Tannehill, protecting him should be seen as a high priority moving forward.
Green Bay Packers select Patrick Queen, LB, LSU Christian Kirksey is not a guaranteed upgrade at the LB position for the team, especially with his recent injury history, and there is nobody worth mentioning behind him on the depth chart. Queen immediately projects as the team's starting LB and is the improvement they needed over Blake Martinez.
Green Bay Packers select Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU The Packers need a surefire upgrade at the WR position and their recent signing of Devin Funchess is clearly not the answer. Funchess can compete with Allen Lazard for the starting outside WR role opposite Davante Adams while Jefferson can take over slot duties for the team. Rodgers does have a tendency to freeze out young receivers should they make mistakes, but Jefferson is one of the most reliable wide receivers in this draft class. He should provide an immediate impact for a team that has been desperately looking for a #2 option behind Adams for years now.
Alternatively - if you have two great receivers and a bad line, you can still be one of the best passing offenses.
