This is not our biggest need but it is probably the biggest impact player we could draft at this time. Jeudy is the best route runner in this deep class and will instantly boost this group of young receivers and help Minshew immensely. When Chark was off the field, Minshews play declined. When Chark was on the field, he still had to hope one of the jabronis playing opposite him could be a good enough to keep the defense from focusing solely on him. Jeudy/Chark is a duo that defenses do not have the luxury of double teaming.

If I’m just looking at Giants roster in a vacuum though, my thought process was

“they really need tackles on BOTH sides of the line more than they need anything else, and I don’t need to pick at 4 to get one. I’d rather add 3 extra picks in the top 80 to this fledgling, half rebuilt team, and still draft a solid tackle with my first rounder since that’s what NYG needs anyway.”

Like to be honest? If Isaiah was gone I’d probably just take a tackle at 4 for NYG. And it wouldn’t even be a reach. Tackle is a really valuable position, teams that pick high frequently have offensive line issues as one major reason why they were so bad.

I took Simmons because I think he is the clear #3 prospect in the draft and there’s a gap after him and Okudah. Giants definitely need more pass rush / front seven talent too so it works. But I am doubtful it’s gonna take till pick 8 for one of the tackles to come off the board IRL.

 

That's another reason why it was odd you traded out. You need a tackle, have your pick of the best, and it's a more valuable position and you decided to drop down to 17 behind:

Browns
Broncos
Bucs
Jets

Who all need tackles.
