With the 40th overall pick, the Houtson Texans select Zach Baun, EDGE, Wisconsin Last season showed how clear of a need pass rush was for a team that traded away Jadeveon Clowney prior to the start of the season and lost J.J. Watt for a good chunk of the season to a torn pec. Losing D.J. Reader in free agency certainly doesn't help matters either. Baun can come in to help fill the void left from the trade of Clowney as well as soften the blow of losing Reader. The Cleveland Browns are on the clock @EntryLevelDave
Pick 41 - The Cleveland Browns select - Jonah Jackson, IOL, THE Ohio State. The Browns offense is stacked with talent, but what good is that if your offense only has .00005 seconds to get a play off. We went OT in the first and are gonna double dip on the offensive line because it's just that bad and we've invested way too much in Baker's success to see him constantly on his ass.
Wow. Didn’t have to trade up. Jaguars select Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama. He’s actually a pretty ideal press corner. 6’2”, 206, long arms and just a hard hitter. Some scouts have floated shifting him to safety. He flips his hips well downfield, and although his mirroring could use some work, he won’t have to do that so much early on in a cover 3 - base defense. What he lacks in discipline can be coached - while he’s skilled at making plays on combo routes in zone coverage, sometimes he’s risky about over committing to his initial read of the play. What I love about him is he’s a very complete player. Not only can he handle run support, press-man, and zone pretty well, but he’s also a capable kick returner and a great special teams gunner / hitter. This is a total Marrone / Wash pick but it’s one I’s certainly agree with. Jaguars’ CB room is now Trevon Diggs, DJ Hayden, Sidney Jones, Tre Herndon, Darqueze Dennard. While I wish I could’ve traded up for Okudah for a true CB1, this at least gives us a year to weed out the rest of our secondary and figure out who has ascending potential and who doesn’t. Adding competition will help us take the next step, provided we find a CB1 next year haha.
It's funny that Randall dm'd me about trading up to 40 with me because I literally was typing in Trevon Diggs, but then had a change of heart.
Heads up, Jags are offering a fourth round pick to move up from our early 3rd round pick to the end of round 2, depending on how this here board falls
Colts select Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona St Phil Rivers needs some weapons to throw to. Some of the things I remember reading around Senior Bowl time said that he was clearly the superior Arizona St prospect to N’Keal Harry. I think a stacked WR class and missing the Senior Bowl has made him fly under the radar a bit, but I’d be thrilled with him at this pick
TRADE!!! Tampa Bay trades their 3rd round pick to the Washington Racial Slurs for OT Trent Williams It's pretty simple, Bucs need to add protection for Tom Brady. It's been reported several veteran players have contacted the Bucs since the announcement of Brady and it wouldn't surprise me if one of those players is Williams. Despite missing significant time, and being 32 years old, I think Williams has some gas in the tank. And I think he'd be willing to play for a little less than he wanted from Washington if it meant a ring. Tampa has two picks in the 4th round so giving up a 3rd rounder won't sting too bad. This trade just makes too much sense. PICK 45: Tampa Bay selects J.K. Dobbins, RB, Ohio State Evans + Godwin + OJ + Brate + Dobbins = Happy Brady
