On the real tho, why are we all okay with DeNiro not getting nominated? I feel like no one is calling it a snub. The phone call scene in The Irishman is probably my favorite "acting" of the year
i think it’s more just that it would have been a “surprise” if he got nominated more than it being a snub or whatever that he didn’t, at least with how all the awards running up to this have looked. it sucks ass but that’s kinda been the way this cycle has been trending
Arthur Clownman literally is the most-nominated movie of the year. 11 nominations. OUATIH, 1917, and The Irishman all have 10. This is real life.
i think the balloting actually lands us a hollywood best picture and is an exception to the BP/editing nomination rule
i don’t see any chance of that happening. it’s more likely to me that jojo wins nothing than it is winning best picture
I would like to think that a win by JoJo Rabbit or Joker would cause people to stop watching, but if Green Book can't do it, nothing can.
Does the academy hate a24 or something ? So many of their films this year robbed of any acknowledgement
it isn’t that shocking. a24 is still a pretty small studio with pretty low budget movies. it’s more shocking to me that people seemed to think that the lighthouse or gems were locks for BP nominations when pretty much everything indicated they were long shots behind knives out or bombshell etc.
I don't know if it's because of the clown but I feel like people are more aggressively saying the lack of female directors etc is merit based which is laughable
