Beat me to it! That’s gotta be a top 5 favorite acting scene for me.

 

It’s interesting that it’s been several years now since any of the supposed favorites to win BP actually won. Moonlight was a basically unprecedented dark horse, Shape of Water seems way out of left field for the Academy, and even though Greek Book was the exact kind of bland film that was right up the Academy’s alley, I don’t remember anyone thinking it was even worth noting, let alone winning. Spotlight is the most recent one I see and think “yeah it made sense that that won.”

This is just to say that I’m calling bullshit on anyone who thinks they have a good idea of what will win or not. It’s too chaotic and unpredictable. They all have basically equal chances except probably Parasite for having the gall to make a bunch of old people read little words

 

This is the most BP nominees I will have ever seen before the announcement

Gonna watch Parasite within the next few days, honestly not too interested in Jojo, Ford or Little Women. Might try to watch them for completion's sake though

I guess I’m the only one here who loved Jojo Rabbit? Hardly ever had a movie make me double over laughing while I was still ugly crying.

I loved Brad’s speech and while OUATIH was my favorite of last year, his performance was super enjoyable but wasn’t mind blowing, I’m glad for his success this awards season but feeling like it’s a career trophy, especially if he wins the Oscar

 

De Niro, man

 

Brad's good in OUATIH, but it feels more like a career achievement Oscar than it does for a great performance Oscar. I'd so much rather see Hanks or Pacino get it if we're talking performance quality.

 

Parasite wins Best Cast. First time an entirely foreign language film has won.

 

Parasite is probably 1917’s chief competition for Best Picture at this point if the Actors love it this much.

 

Whoever wins DGA wins best picture I think. And I honestly think Bong has the edge there.

 

still think it's parasite or hollywood, though 1917 is obviously climbing

 

I feel confident saying one of Parasite or 1917 will win best picture, and I have high preference for the former but the latter would be perfectly ok in my mind

 

I wonder what the stats are for Academy members, like how many are actors, producers, directors, etc.
