If I were to guess right now, I think "1917" would win the award (Not saying that I want it to win). It's amazing on a technical level and completely unchallenging and streamlined for any viewer, where "Parasite," "Once Upon A Time" and "Irishman" are longer and more complex. "Parasite" will sadly win the Best Foreign Film so the Academy can pretend they give a shit.
My personal ranking of the Best Picture noms: 1. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2. Parasite 3. Marriage Story 4. The Irishman 5. 1917 6. Ford V Ferrari 7. Little Women 8. Joker 9. Jojo Rabbit All around, this is a pretty fantastic group of options. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of these movies.
I fell asleep during the Irishman at least 3 times. I don't mind slow methodical movies (watched Burning recently and loved it), but I was thoroughly bored by the Irishman.
< means less than < is like an uppercase L, > means greater than. The little monster eats the bigger number (or in this case, the better film).
Marriage Story Parasite Hollywood Irishman Ford v Ferrari Joker Jojo Rabbit haven't seen 1917 or little women yet
Parasite/Little Women/Irishman > Marriage Story/OUATIH >> FvF >>>>>>>>>> 1917 >>> Joker haven’t seen Jojo. But while they nominated 5 great movies (plus a solid enough one), Joker has 11 nominations and it’s an inevitability that the bottom 3 movies ends up winning most of the prizes, and that there was an ocean of great cinema that came out last year and a lot of nonsense was celebrated over real good stuff As it always goes
it would be shocking for FvF to win. i feel like that has the least chance out of all the nominees. if there is a candidate for the first film knocked off by preferential balloting, it's that one.
Yeah I’m (maybe unfairly) grouping Jojo with the bottom 3, Ford v Ferrari won’t make much of a splash. Though it’s 10 times the movie 1917 is
If Joaquin wins, that means every actor portraying Joker in a theatrical modern* film won an Oscar for the role or previously won one *not including the 1960s Batman movie
Richard Brody always worthwhile, love that in his personal awards he gives a costume nomination to Uncut Gems (period pieces and genre fare aren't the only movies that design costumes!!) and I love how much he stands for the Dead Don't Die, which ruled The Fossilized 2020 Oscar Nominations
I'm guessing Ford v Ferrari and Jojo Rabbit walk away empty handed. The Irishman wins Adapted Screenplay and Editing Joker wins Best Actor Little Women wins Costume Design Marriage Story wins Supporting Actress 1917 wins Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing Once Upon a Time in Hollywood wins Supporting Actor and Original Screenplay Parasite wins International Feature Original Score is between 1917 and Joker, more likely the latter. Production Design is between 1917 and Once Upon a Time. Again, probably the latter. Director is between Bong and Tarantino, and I think it'll go to Bong. Picture is between Once Upon a Time, Parasite, Irishman, and 1917, and I think Once will win.
we doing predictions? BP: Hollywood Actor: Joaquin Actress: Renee S. Actor: Pitt S. Actress: Dern Adapted: Joker Original: Hollywood Editing: Irishman Cinematography: 1917 International Feature: Parasite Score: Marriage Story
