The only good thing about all of this is that the Joker has become a way to awards legitimacy unless you are Jared Leto.

 

To be fair this happened with Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle a few years ago, didn’t it?

I’m not surprised but I am still upset Lulu Wang and Greta Gerwig were ignored for best director. Some of the scenes in The Farewell feel so real to actual humans dealing with a potential loss of a family member. Super bummed for Lulu

Most disappointing set of nominees as a whole in a long time. They could have tripped and fallen into more interesting and deserving choices for every category so easily.

 

The fact that nobody from Parasite was nominated for acting says a lot about its BP chances. Last year Roma had two surprise acting nominations and still lost. The Actors branch is the biggest branch of the Academy by far. Not saying it’s proof it will lose but it’s a factor in the analysis for sure.

 

The cast of The Farewell getting snubbed is seriously mind-boggling.

 

This might be the first year where I've seen all the BP noms prior to the announcement.

 

Joker has no business getting that many nominations.
