I just checked his stats and he had 26 goals last year? Is that not kinda hasty?

 

For sure. He was the leading goal scorer and a big part of the core. 16 games in, he’s been having little to no impact on these games. Whether it was the long time off games or lack of wanting to play under Eakins he hasn’t been the same player. Deep teams could certainly see the benefit of adding him.

 

He's playing with Riley Sheahan and Curtis Lazar. I hate it.

 

the Devils special teams are so God damn bad

if they had even league average special teams, they'd be one of the better teams in the NHL

 

I will say that there's other factors here. Dude is just absolutely snake bitten right now. He's getting chances and idk if he's squeezing the stick or what but he just can't finish on some of them, he's been absolutely robbed on others, it's really hard to watch.

That being said I think if he got regular shifts up where he belongs he'd be able to snap the slump. But i think the Sabres are in a bad spot, they don't have enough guys to play LW and have him in the top 6...idk. The roster construction stinks and he's getting the worst of it
