Dubois would be a perfect fit for the Habs, but I can understand why they would balk at including Suzuki. Also, that will not work salary-wise, so they would have to gut the team even more to fit his salary in.

I mean if you’re trading for a guy like Eichel or whoever, then yeah Suzuki+ is where the conversation starts. But Suzuki had eight less points than Dubois last year, and is only getting better. I don’t see the pressing need beyond the “local boy” factor.

 

Everything I am reading is saying that the NBC contract expired at the end of the 20-21 season which is June, right? So I don't see how they would be moving games to USA unless they are shutting down the network asap. Or am I missing something here?

NHL can sign a new deal with whoever they want that would begin at the start of next season as far as I can tell.

 

They will go to ESPN and we'll get a ton of games on ESPN+

Some would argue Suzuki has been better than Dubois.

on PLD- he needs to be better. His effort level hasn’t been there this year. He is frustrated, but he’s not getting himself to work through it. He chose to sign an extension in Columbus, and he is being paid millions of dollars for his effort.

I don’t know what Torts has done since joining Columbus to make y’all think he’s in the wrong here. He has been the best coach in franchise history, he has instilled a culture of hard work and team play that has led to two major playoff upsets in back to back years. Look at their roster, it isn’t an insanely talented group the last couple years- especially last year after Panarin left. He has also been a great ambassador for the franchise off the ice, constantly being put into situations where he had to defend his players and the city as the rest of the league has hated on the it. He has done a phenomenal job there.

I realize he’s not a popular guy, but I think he’s been a great fit there.
