I always wondered how well, if at all, the athletic did. all these big name writers but I dont know a single person who pays for it.

They definitely are, they just lack top end talent. Their entire forward corps is just second and third liners, with no real weak links. They’re very deep.

No. Leafs are mentally fragile choke artists, Jets were already collapsing before the playoffs started and then lost their best player game 1, and Pete DeBoer is to a hockey team what being locked in an airless vault is to human life.

I don't have an excuse lined up for Tampa/NYI yet, but I assure you I'm working on it.

 

I've paid for it 2 separate times. 50% off both times. So $30 a year. I've invested $60 total into it. Haven't been a subscriber since February and don't miss it.

 

I basically only read Hawks/NHL stuff but Scott and Laz do a good job for the local stuff and the more data driven stuff from Dom and the like is also good. Also Katie Strang usually will have a few great long reads on really pressing subjects.

 

I signed up for the athletic to read Meg Linehan's stuff on the USWNT and the NWSL since she's the best in the business covering that and sometimes I'll remember to check out McIndoe's stuff. Still not really a fan of the guy who covers the Lightning for them, really wish they'd hired Erlendsson instead. Took advantage when they offered $1 a month subscriptions so I can't complain about the price at all.

I did the one dollar a month deal. Rangers beat writer is trash but I love Shayna Goldman. Dom is a pretentious dick but his analytics are solid. Sara civian getting shit on in comments is fun because she's horrible.

That aside the only reason I joined was to keep reading DGB.

The athletic also has daily hockey podcasts. Ian Mendes, Hailey salvian, DGB, Sean gentille and a bunch of others host. It's good.
